It’s Time To Prune Roses!

🌿 Pruning Shrub Roses (Floribundas)

Start by reducing the overall height of the plant by approximately one-third to one-half. Remove old, woody stems, dead or diseased branches, and any growth directed towards the centre of the plant. Aim for an open, cup-shaped structure that allows for good airflow and sunlight penetration.

🌸 Caring for Miniature Roses

Miniature roses can be cut back to around 20cm above the ground. Remove any weak, dead, or diseased stems to encourage vigorous new growth.

🌹 Training and Pruning Climbing Roses

Untie climbing roses from their supports and remove old, unproductive wood at the base. Prune remaining stems by up to two-thirds before carefully reattaching them to their support structure.

🌺 Managing Rambling Roses

Rambling roses should be pruned after flowering. Remove at least one-third of the oldest growth and shorten remaining stems to maintain shape and control their vigorous growth.

🌱 Encourage Spectacular Spring Blooms

A well-pruned rose bush will reward you with healthier growth, improved flowering, and a more attractive shape. A little effort now will pay off with a stunning display of blooms when warmer weather returns.
