One of the most irresistible plants for cats is Catnip (Nepeta Catana). This evergreen perennial is related to Mint and gas aromatic grey leaves with spikes of mauve or white flowers. Cats absolutely adore rolling in it, and sometimes even chew on the leaves! It certainly is pure bliss for them! Catnip is also a good groundcover plant and grown as a border plant makes it easily accessible for cats. Grasses are generally enjoyed by both dogs and cats. The foliage makes ideal hiding places for cats. Try Carexes or Pet Grass (Dactylis Glomerata), which can be grown in a container or used as groundcover in flower borders. Dogs, cats, rabbits and Guinea pigs all enjoy munching on this grass. It’s very a very nutritious grass for them all and when eaten can provide fibre, vitamins and essential minerals, plus aid digestion.

Dogs, with their amazing sense of smell, are attracted to strong-smelling plants like Rue (Ruta Graveolens), Salvias, Lavenders and Rosemary. They love a good roll in any one of these plants, and as an added bonus, they are all flea-repelling herbs!
