Salvia canariensis (Canary Island Sage)
Salvia canariensis, known as Canary Island Sage, is a striking, fast-growing perennial shrub native to the Canary Islands. It forms a large, bushy habit with aromatic, grey-green leaves often covered in a soft, woolly texture. In summer, it produces dramatic spikes of vibrant magenta-purple flowers held above colourful, papery bracts, creating a bold display in the garden. This salvia thrives in hot, dry conditions and is excellent for adding height and colour to mixed borders or water-wise landscapes.
