Description
Hypoestes aristata, commonly known as ribbon bush or purple ribbon, is a fast-growing, ornamental shrub native to southern Africa. Celebrated for its vivid floral display, it produces a profusion of tubular, lavender to deep purple flowers from late summer through autumn, providing essential nectar for bees, butterflies, and sunbirds when few other plants are blooming.
This semi-hardy perennial can grow up to 1.5 meters tall, forming a bushy, upright shape with dark green, lance-shaped leaves. Its striking flowers are two-lipped and attract attention not only for their colour but also for their timing, offering vibrant interest at the end of the dry season.
