Description
Melinis nerviglumis (Ruby Grass / Bristle-leaved Red Top)
Melinis nerviglumis, commonly known as Ruby Grass, is a hardy, tufted perennial grass indigenous to South Africa. It forms attractive clumps of blue-green foliage topped with soft, fluffy, ruby-pink flower heads that mature to silvery-white. Flowering mainly in summer, it creates a striking shimmer in the garden and is highly ornamental in both formal and naturalistic plantings. Ruby Grass is drought tolerant, low maintenance, and ideal for wildlife-friendly gardens as it attracts pollinators.
