Description
Euphorbia x martinii ‘Tiny Tim’ (often marketed as ‘Tiny Tim’ Spurge) is a compact, evergreen sub-shrub hybrid belonging to the diverse Euphorbiaceae family. This cultivar typically forms a dense, mounding habit, reaching approximately 30-50 cm in both height and spread. Its narrowly lance-shaped leaves are a distinctive grey-green, often exhibiting a reddish flush, particularly on new growth and during cooler seasons, borne on maroon stems. The plant’s inflorescences, known as cyathia, are produced profusely from late spring through summer, presenting as small, chartreuse (lime green) bracts with conspicuous bright red nectar glands at their centers. ‘Tiny Tim’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and requires well-drained soil, tolerating sandy or loamy compositions, and showing good drought tolerance once established. It is well-suited to Mediterranean and temperate climates found in parts of South Africa, adapting well to container cultivation or as edging in garden beds.
