Description
Schoenoxiphium ecklonii (Ecklon’s Sedge)
Schoenoxiphium ecklonii, commonly known as Ecklon’s Sedge, is a hardy, tufted evergreen sedge indigenous to South Africa. It forms dense clumps of glossy green, grass-like leaves that add fine texture and movement to the landscape. In summer, it produces attractive brownish flowering spikes that rise above the foliage. This ornamental sedge thrives in both sun and semi-shade, tolerates wet conditions, and is ideal for stabilising soil along streambanks or moist garden areas.
