Description
CARROT BLACK NEBULA – Daucus carota subsp. sativus
Carrot Black Nebula is a striking heirloom-style carrot variety producing long, slender roots with an exceptionally deep purple to almost black skin. When sliced, the roots reveal an intense dark purple colour, making this an eye-catching addition to the edible garden.
The unusual colouring makes Black Nebula particularly appealing to gardeners who enjoy growing speciality and heritage-style vegetables. The carrots can be harvested young for a more tender texture or allowed to mature for a larger root.
Planting: Plant in full sun in deep, loose, stone-free soil. Good soil preparation helps the roots develop straight and evenly.
Water: Keep the soil consistently moist during germination and root development. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained, sandy or loamy soil that is free of stones and heavy clumps.
Harvest: Harvest when the roots have reached the desired size and developed their characteristic dark colour. Young roots can be harvested for a particularly tender texture.
Uses: Excellent eaten raw, roasted, steamed, boiled or added to salads, soups and vegetable dishes. The dark colour also makes it particularly attractive for colourful salads and fresh vegetable platters.
PRE-ORDER PRODUCT: Supplied as plugs in a 48 plug tray.
A spectacular speciality carrot for the edible garden, with almost-black roots that bring a dramatic splash of colour to the vegetable patch and kitchen.
